How to play Mahjong Connect

Take a moment with Mahjong Connect before moving to another game. Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. Look at what changes after your first action. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

1. Select equal tiles.
2. The route must cross only empty cells.
3. An outside-border path is allowed.
4. Open connections by removing pairs.

Controls

Tap pairs; use Hint and Undo. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

A useful example

A same-row pair needs an empty route between its endpoints. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Look for the relevant detail.

Watch out for this

Three corners are invalid. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
