How to play Klondike Solitaire
Open Klondike Solitaire, check the instructions and begin a round. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Use the example below to understand a decision. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.
One deck; draw-one or draw-three stock; waste recycling. Free solo play, no wagering.
Try a deliberate move
After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Notice the feedback after each input.
Your goal
Build four suit foundations from ace to king. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Review the board or playing area as it changes.
Step by step
- Build down in alternating colours; kings fill empty columns. Valid ordered runs move together.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
Controls
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.
A useful example
A red 6 fits a black 7, not another red 7. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Verify the rule before continuing.
Watch out for this
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
